On-Air Personality Mayowa Lambe has issued a cease-and-desist notice to her estranged husband, Robert Ekpenyong Ekpo, demanding a public retraction and N100 million in damages over comments he made about her during a podcast appearance.
The notice, dated April 22 and signed by K. Umoh Esq., was shared on X by Yolanda George-David, whose foundation’s legal unit is representing Lambe.
Issued through the legal department of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, the document called on Ekpo to immediately halt further dissemination of the alleged defamatory remarks, delete all related content, publish a public apology on the same platforms, and pay damages amounting to N100 million.
It warned that failure to comply within three days would trigger legal action, including claims for aggravated damages, injunctive relief, and possible criminal complaints, while also cautioning third parties against circulating the claims.
The notice read, “You are hereby required to: Immediately cease and desist from further publication or repetition of all defamatory statements.
“Remove all existing defamatory content across all platforms.
“Issue a clear, unqualified, and public retraction of all false statements.
“Publish a full public apology to Our Client via the same platforms used to disseminate the defamatory content.
“Pay the sum of ₦100,000,000.00 as damages.”
The legal move followed Ekpo’s appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he spoke at length about the collapse of his marriage, alleging infidelity, dishonesty and financial strain over several years.
The couple, who married in November 2015 after meeting on Instagram, had largely kept their relationship private until recent reports surfaced that Lambe had remarried in Texas, United States.
Speaking during the podcast, Ekpo said, “After 11 years of marriage, I woke up to videos and pictures of my wife on Instagram getting married to another man.”
He further alleged that Lambe concealed contraceptive use during their marriage while he underwent medical tests believing he was responsible for their inability to have children.
“I am 48 years old, I don’t have a kid, I started going for tests because I thought I was the problem, I thought I had fertility issues. I later found out that she was taking contraceptives,” he said.
Ekpo also accused her of misleading him about a trip to Miami.
“Mayowa travelled to Miami to do BBL. She told me she went for surgery that would enable her to conceive,” he said.
He added that communication between them had become strained, citing concerns raised by Lambe over messages sent via social media.
“If I send my wife a message on her Instagram DM, she would question me why I was sending a message there. She would say ‘they (immigration) check,’” he said.
Ekpo claimed they had lived apart for years, saying he only saw her again in 2025 after funding her trip to Nigeria, where he alleged she treated him coldly.
“Since 2021, I have not seen Mayowa again, until last year, I sent her ticket money to come to Nigeria. I went to the airport in two cars. I could not get a clip of hugging my wife.
“She did not kiss me. I slept in the living room for two days. I will send her N200k from the N500k gig,” he said.
He also alleged that she shared accommodation abroad with a male flatmate who later became romantically involved with her.
“She got a house and got a male flatmate. I was not comfortable with it, only for me to find out two days ago that the flatmate was sleeping with her. (It was not the same guy she married). I saw a picture of her sitting on a man’s leg at a restaurant,” he said.
Reflecting on the relationship, he added: “10 years of my life. If I had a kid out of wedlock, I would have justified that Mayowa can do whatever she likes, what did I do, but just love.
“Mayowa travelled for six years; with the little money I was earning, I was sending money to Mayowa every time. I was sending flowers.”
However, Lambe’s legal representatives disputed the claims, stating that the couple’s traditional marriage “was mutually terminated with the full knowledge and consent of both families prior to May 11, 2025,” and that no valid marital relationship existed after that date.
The notice accused Ekpo of engaging in “a deliberate and sustained campaign of falsehood, using online platforms and public broadcasts” to circulate what it described as fabricated allegations, including claims about infidelity, financial dependence and moral conduct.
It further argued that the statements were “calculated to mislead the public, attract attention, and generate sympathy at the expense of our client’s reputation.”
According to the legal team, Lambe possesses evidence to counter the allegations, including records of her financial contributions, efforts to support Ekpo’s relocation abroad, and medical documentation relating to fertility matters.
The document also referenced communications and third-party correspondences said to contradict Ekpo’s version of events.
It added that despite interventions from family members, mentors and counsellors, Ekpo allegedly continued to make the claims.
The notice described his actions as “serious defamation, causing emotional distress, reputational injury, and loss of goodwill,” and stated that Lambe had suffered “widespread online trolling and coordinated defamatory commentary from individuals acting on your false representations.”
The dispute has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with opinions sharply divided between both parties.
