A Nakuru woman who is serving a five-year sentence for killing her married lover, whom she dated for eight years, has remorsefully sought forgiveness while recounting what happened.

The inmate who is set to leave prison in 2028 explained that she started dating the man, a lecturer, in 2012 until 2020 when he died during a domestic squabble.
Speaking on Simon Kibe Jamba TV channel, the woman said the lecturer was like her “sponsor” as he stepped up to educate her three children from her estranged husband, and even bought her a piece of land.

“He was married, but he would tell me that he had issues with his family and that he wanted a woman like me to give him peace and a home. We met while I was working in a bar in Nakuru, and that’s how we started seeing each other,” she said.
The prisoner noted that their relationship became strained over the years, and they would fight over trivial matters.
“At times, he would wake up from my house in the middle of the night and say he wanted to leave to go back to his family. We would argue and fight all the time. Sometimes we would fight so after getting really drunk and this would escalate,” she said.

She said that about six years ago, she and the man were out on a drinking spree when emotions got heated, and they started bickering again.
“When we started fighting in the bar, I told him to go home to his wife and leave me alone. I started going home, and he kept following me. While we were at the gate leading to my house, I saw him, and I pushed him. Unfortunately, he fell and hit his head against a septic tank,” she recalled, adding that she did not think he would sustain serious injuries.

The woman said she rushed him to the hospital, and then later called his wife and brother and told them about what had happened.
The lecturer’s family rushed him to a better hospital. He would die a month later.
The woman was arrested after she was caught up in another crime of stealing money from SIM cards.
“When I was caught, the police officers informed me they had been looking for me to charge me with the lecturer’s unintentional killing. I was jailed for five years, and I will leave anytime before or on 2028,” she said.
The convict vehemently sought forgiveness from the family of the deceased, saying she did not intend to kill him.

The woman said she started interacting with a person she thought was an adult man on Facebook, not knowing he was still a student.
She was arrested after spending the night at his home.
