What started as a passing interest would soon become a life-altering decision for the soft-spoken businessman, who runs a small hotel in Lare alongside his wife.
The winning moment came after he correctly predicted outcomes in three pre-selected SportPesa Goal Rush promotion games on April 12, a feat that secured him the multi-million jackpot.
Yet even then, Kirimi admits he was unsure at first.
Kirimi’s reaction to KSh 10m windfall
He admitted that on the day he won, he couldn’t believe it at first, and that it took convincing from a fellow punter to accept.
“I thought I had only gotten two of the three predictions right, but my friends corrected me,” he said with a smile. “Right after, we just broke into celebrations at the hotel. I was so happy.”
He added that after confirming he had won, he left the phone with his wife and went to bed, instructing her to wake him up once the long-awaited call came.
