Abia State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a woman, Ezinna Ariwodo, by one Chinedu Anamelechi in Umunagu Amakama, Umuahia South LGA of Abia State.
The suspect, who was said to be a local security personnel, also stabbed his girlfriend who is a sister to deceased, and shot another young man from Amakama, before fleeing to an unknown place.
A statement by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, on Thursday said that upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Command swiftly raced to the scene where they found the lifeless body of the deceased in a pool of blood with gunshot injuries.
Chinaka who who explained that the injured victims were rescued and rushed to the hospital where they are currently receiving treatment, said the deceased was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
The PPRO said that the body of the slain woman has been deposited in the mogue for autopsy and preservation, adding that exhibits were also recovered from the scene.
“Normalcy has since been restored in the area and members of the community were advised not to take laws into their hands. Investigation is ongoing as efforts are in place to apprehend the suspect,” she added.
