Former Kenyan Premier League defender Gabriel Wandera tragically died on Sunday morning, April 19, following a hit-and-run road accident in Busia County.

Wandera was reportedly struck by a vehicle that sped away from the scene. He succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Just hours before the tragedy, Wandera had played for Bossman Knights FC in an FKF Division Two match against Khwirale FC. During that game, he was shown a red card in the first half.

She also revealed that she had lost her father in June 2025, and she was yet to heal from it.
“To my best friend, a man who loved me unconditionally, my darling husband, father to my babies. This is too heavy for me. I have not recovered from my father’s death, and now you. It’s still a dream for me. Rest in eternal peace, my love,” she said.
