INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan says faith guided decision to accept appointment

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan, has revealed that he sought spiritual guidance before accepting his appointment to lead Nigeria’s electoral body.

Speaking on his decision, Amupitan said his acceptance was not based solely on personal judgment, but on a conviction shaped by faith and a sense of divine direction.
He described the position as a critical national responsibility, noting that managing elections in Nigeria requires strong moral grounding and a commitment to fairness.
