A chieftain of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Mr. Dadiowei Kingsley Akpeti, has urged members not to allow the outcome of the recent election to create divisions within the organisation.
In a statement, Akpeti described the INC as a strong socio-cultural body and stressed that the election outcome should reinforce unity rather than weaken it.
He noted that every credible election produces a winner, referencing the emergence of Chief Barrister MacDonald Igadiwe as President of the INC.
Akpeti encouraged other contestants to see the process as a collective effort, reflecting the spirit of unity among the Ijaw people.
He also commended the Electoral Committee (ELECO), led by HRM Justice Francis Tabai (rtd), JSC, for conducting what he described as a credible process, adding that it demonstrated how well-organised elections can be achieved.
According to him, despite some challenges, the process was orderly and well-coordinated, reflecting the importance of effective leadership in managing elections.
Akpeti further acknowledged the contributions of other contestants, including Prof. Osaisai and Engr. Wodu, noting that their participation strengthened the democratic process.
He urged the new leadership of the INC to focus on development initiatives and to engage members in the diaspora for broader impact.
On his part, Akpeti pledged support for the organisation’s growth, including plans to host an event celebrating the new leadership through the INDG platform.
He also disclosed plans to invite INC leaders to a business and familiarisation dinner in Houston, where his company, SPOTLESS in Minutes, is set to open a new office alongside a training centre aimed at supporting Ijaw youths in the Texas region.
