Yoruba Nollywood actress Juwon Adewunmi has opened up about a troubling experience with her property in Lagos. Speaking in an interview on Talk to B podcast, she explained how she rented her house in Ajah, Lagos, to a tenant who later sublet the property to another person without her knowledge.........…
Adewunmi said the original tenant had owed her ... rent for three full years. Instead of paying, the tenant transferred control of the house to someone else entirely.
She described the situation as one where a person who owes her rent was busy renting the same house out to another tenant. This, she said, happens because there is no sympathy in Nigeria.
The actress compared this to her experience living in America.
She noted that in the United States, a person cannot owe even five dollars for more than 24 hours. If that happens, the person will be taken to court.
She made it clear that this difference between Nigeria and America is very sharp.
Her words; “I have a house in Ajah, Lagos, and my tenant has been owing me for three years. Even the person I rented the house to had already sublet it to someone else. This tenant transferred my house to another person. Someone who owes me rent is renting my house out to someone else. Things like that happen because there is no sympathy in Nigeria.
