The case involves a 53-year-old Chinese national working in Akamkpa LGA, who arrived Nigeria on March 17 and developed symptoms on April 10.
He was first treated at a state facility before being moved to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), where tests confirmed COVID-19.
State health officials say he is stable.
Authorities have activated emergency response measures, including contact tracing of those he had contact with.
Officials say there is no cause for alarm yet but urged the public to remain cautious, noting that COVID-19 is still present
