At least four passengers were injured on Sunday morning after a commercial bus reportedly suffered brake failure and veered off the road into a ditch along Oba Ogunusi Road in Ojodu, Lagos State.
The accident, which occurred opposite Babs Fafunwa School inward the Victoria Island axis, involved a 14-passenger yellow bus and no other vehicles.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the crash was caused by suspected brake failure, forcing the vehicle off the roadway and into a nearby ditch.
“Approximately four occupants sustained severe injuries and have been evacuated to the Emergency Centre at Toll Gate,” the agency said in a statement via its X handle.
LASTMA said that its officials were deployed to the scene shortly after the incident to coordinate rescue efforts and manage the situation, while arrangements were made for a tow truck to remove the damaged vehicle.
“Recovery operations remain ongoing, and there is currently no effect on traffic flow,” it added.
