An Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on Tuesday killed at least four people, including a child, according to health officials in the territory.
The attack marks the latest violence to overshadow a fragile US-brokered ceasefire agreement.
Medics and witnesses reported that the strike, which occurred on Nafaq Street, set a police car ablaze.
Residents and rescue workers immediately rushed to the scene to search for potential casualties, though it remains unclear how many of the deceased were police officers.
The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the incident.
The ceasefire, which came into effect last October, brought an end to two years of full-blown conflict. However, it left Israeli troops in control of a depopulated zone comprising well over half of Gaza, with Hamas retaining power in the remaining, narrow coastal strip.
Since October, Israel has intensified its attacks on Hamas-led police and security forces, resulting in dozens of deaths, officials from the group in Gaza have told Reuters.
They accuse Israel of attempting to sow chaos and anarchy within the territory.
Israel maintains that its actions are aimed at thwarting attacks by Hamas and other militant factions.
More than 750 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire deal took effect, while militants have killed four Israeli soldiers. Both Israel and Hamas have traded blame for violations of the agreement.
Palestinians also allege that Israeli forces have been expanding the zone they occupy, a claim which Israel denies.
Tuesday’s airstrike follows another Israeli strike in Gaza on Saturday.
According to Gaza’s health ministry, Saturday’s strike killed at least seven people and left several others injured.
One strike early on Saturday targeted a police checkpoint in the Bureij camp, located in the central Gaza Strip, killing at least six individuals. A separate attack in Beit Lahiya claimed at least one life, officials confirmed.
