The dispute between media personality Mayowa Lambe and her former husband, Roby Ekpo, has escalated, with Ekpo formally rejecting a cease-and-desist letter and a ₦100 million defamation claim issued by Lambe’s legal team.
Lambe’s lawyers had accused Ekpo of making defamatory statements during a podcast, describing the remarks as false and damaging to her reputation. The notice demanded a retraction, a public apology, and payment of ₦100 million in damages.
In a response issued through his legal representatives, Ekpo declined the demands and signalled readiness to contest the matter in court.
“Our client will not comply with your demands as they currently stand,” the statement read, adding that the case should be resolved through legal proceedings where both parties can present their claims and supporting evidence.

Ekpo’s legal team further indicated that he may file counterclaims if the matter proceeds to court. These could include allegations of harassment, intimidation, and reputational harm arising from what they described as false or exaggerated claims.

The response also suggested that aspects of Lambe’s legal correspondence could be tendered in potential petitions to authorities in the United States, including the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Ekpo’s lawyers maintained that he reserves the right to seek declaratory and injunctive relief as the dispute develops.
The disagreement has drawn public attention and is expected to develop into a high-profile legal battle if both parties proceed with court action.
