The Federal High Court in Abuja this morning granted bail to prominent Nigerian cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as Blord.

The presiding judge ruled that Blord should be released on self-recognizance (personal bond). No cash payment or fixed monetary surety is required.

The main condition is that he must surrender his international passport to the court registry.

Blord has been detained at the Kuje Correctional Centre since his arraignment on April 1, 2026.

He faces charges of criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and alleged unauthorised use of the identity and image of social media activist VeryDarkMan (Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VDM). He pleaded not guilty when remanded.

Blord was present in court today, and the bail hearing proceeded after the police withdrew their earlier counter-affidavit opposing the application.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who was present at the proceedings, confirmed the outcome, stating: “Bail has been granted to Linus Williams, popularly known as BLORD, on self-recognizance. The court, however, ordered that he deposit his international passport as part of the bail conditions.”

Reports also indicate that parties in the matter are exploring an amicable resolution.

Blord is expected to be released from Kuje once he completes the administrative process of depositing his passport, a step that is typically straightforward.

Blord is the founder of the Blord Group and a well-known name in Nigeria’s crypto and business space.

His detention over the past two weeks generated significant public interest, with many Nigerians closely following updates on the case.
