The Nigerian Army has recorded what it described as significant operational successes across multiple theatres within the last 24 hours, including the neutralisation of threats, rescue of kidnapped victims and disruption of criminal networks.
According to the Army in an X post shared on Sunday, the operations were achieved through coordinated, intelligence-driven offensives and inter-agency collaboration.
It stated that, ”The Nigerian Army have recorded significant operational successes across multiple theatres within the last 24 hours, neutralising threats, rescuing kidnapped victims and disrupting criminal networks through coordinated, intelligence-driven operations.”
It added that,” The successes reflect sustained offensive actions and effective inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity nationwide.”
In Kogi State, troops of 12 Brigade, working with the police and local vigilantes, arrested two suspected terrorists during operations at Kakuma Ileteju/Origa and Ijumu villages, recovering motorcycles and chainsaw machines.
The Army said,” Troops of 12 Brigade, in conjunction with the Nigerian Police and vigilantes, conducted offensive operations at Kakuma Ileteju/Origa and Ijumu villages, arresting 2 suspected terrorists and recovering 2 motorcycles and 2 chainsaw machines.”
In Sokoto State, troops also cleared several communities and rescued a foreign national.
“Troops also rescued a Nigerien national held captive for over three weeks, further highlighting the cross-border dimension of terrorist activities,” the statement partly read.
In Niger State, the Army said troops neutralised threats, dismantled terrorist camps and destroyed illegal mining sites, while also apprehending suspects.
On drug and arms-related operations, troops in Akwa Ibom State arrested six suspects and recovered large quantities of illicit substances.
“Troops of 2 Brigade conducted raids on drug peddlers’ hideouts in Akwa Ibom State, arresting 6 suspects and recovering 20kg of cannabis sativa, 120g of Canadian loud, 27.5g of Colorado, 4.3g of methamphetamine (ice), 15 bottles of codeine, one sachet of tramadol, and ₦431,500.00.”
In Rivers State, troops dismantled illegal bunkering facilities, recovering equipment and refined products used for illicit oil refining.
“Troops uncovered and dismantled illegal bunkering infrastructure, recovering 4 galvanised pipes, hoses, reservoirs, drum ovens and other equipment used in illegal refining activities,” it stated.
The Army also reported arrests and recoveries in Plateau State, including firearms, ammunition, motorcycles and cash.
