Friends and family of Nakuru teacher, Anita Mugweru, who was killed by her husband, continue to share details of her troubled marriage before she was killed.

Anita, a 29-year-old mother of one, was stabbed to death by her husband, Edwin Muthomi, at their home in St Mary’s Estate, Nakuru County.

According to the househelp, the two had an argument on the fateful day after Anita arrived home from work before Edwin stabbed her.
The shaken househelp recalled how the KDF soldier went to the kitchen, took a knife and stabbed Anita. She narrated how the mother of one dragged herself out hoping to get help from neighbours, but only one helped her as the rest watched from their balconies.
Anita was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead a few minutes after her arrival at the hospital.

One of Anita’s best friends, Abby Mish, has recalled their last conversation hours before her husband killed her. In a series of videos she shared on TikTok, the content creator revealed that she warned Anita not to sleep in her house, saying she sensed Edwin was planning to kill her.
“On the fateful day, I talked to her and told her to stay away from Edwin. I told her he could douse her with acid or stab her with a knife and warned her to stay away from him. Even her other friends advised her to stay away from Edwin, telling her he would kill her because of the numerous threats…”

Mish recalled a time Edwin when threatened Anita and told her that he wouldn’t allow any other man in her life apart from him.
“…”If you ever leave me for another man I’ll harm you.” That is how he used to threaten her,” she shared.

Mish revealed that the threats were too many and Anita would report the military man to the police but nothing changed.
“One time after she reported him to the police, I warned her to stay away from Edwin. I told her he would kill her one day,” she continued.
Mish recalled Anita telling her that they were to have a meeting on Saturday, April 18, and part ways peacefully, but unfortunately, she never lived to finalise the divorce.
“On Tuesday, April 14, the fateful day she was killed, I called her and advised her to stay away from Edwin. I told her not to sleep in her house on that night,” she recalled.

Mish revealed that in 2025, Anita moved out to a gated community, and later, she reunited with Edwin, but he got to a point and became an alcoholic.

“When they reunited, Edwin had huge debts and started drinking a lot. He became sick, and Anita was there for him during that time taking care of her but she got to a point and decided she was going to leave him. I advised her not to leave him at his lowest point in life and take care of him until he is stable, and then they part ways,” she narrated.
Mish said Edwin refused to go back to his place after Anita told him she had made a decision to go their separate ways; he started threatening her again.

In other news, Anita’s male friend, influencer Dave Sirikal, penned an emotional tribute, remembering her as a great friend.
He shared photos that he and Anita took together with other classmates back in 2015 while still studying at Egerton University, reminiscing about their good old times.
Sirikal demanded justice for his collegemate and friend, saying she did not deserve to die such a painful death.
