John Arum Azi, a graduate of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), on Wednesday regained his freedom after spending 10 days in captivity.
He had been abducted on April 13, 2026, while travelling along the Jos–Kaduna highway to repair a keyboard for a client.
His ordeal gained national attention after a viral video showed him being brutally tortured by his abductors.
The family confirmed his release following ransom negotiations of N6 million with abductors.
It was gathered that the abductors initially demanded ₦30 million, later reducing it to ₦10 million.
Despite the initial ₦6 million payment, the kidnappers reportedly demanded an additional ₦4 million before eventually letting him go.
The amount was reportedly raised through contributions from concerned Nigerians.
His release was confirmed on Wednesday through a video shared by his family on social media, showing him reunited with loved ones.
