The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, has inaugurated an Employees’ Compensation Scheme Help Desk at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation in Abuja to strengthen workers’ welfare.
Managing Director and Chief Executive of NSITF, Oluwaseun Faleye, said the initiative marked a major milestone in delivering social security services within Nigeria’s federal civil service system.
Mr Faleye said the Help Desk demonstrated government commitment to the welfare, safety, and dignity of public servants, while improving access to compensation services and support mechanisms across federal ministries.
He described it as a structural transformation in the Employees’ Compensation Scheme, designed to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the administration of workers’ welfare and protection services nationwide.
According to him, the Help Desk provides a one-stop service point for civil servants, offering information, advisory support, claims processing assistance, issue resolution, and continuous sensitisation on compensation entitlements.
He explained that the system would ensure eligible workers were properly captured under the scheme, while contributions and claims were processed through a verifiable, transparent, and efficient digital framework.
Mr Faleye added that the facility would also serve as a data and feedback centre to improve operations, strengthened monitoring, and enhanced overall service delivery under the compensation scheme.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritising workers’ welfare and strengthening national social protection systems aimed at improving safety and support for employees in public service institutions.
The NSITF chief also lauded the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, for her leadership and support in actualising the Help Desk initiative.
He said collaboration among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies remained critical to the success and sustainability of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme across the federal public service structure.
Mr Faleye described the Help Desk as a responsive service hub that provided clear information, professional guidance, and prompted assistance to civil servants on compensation-related matters and entitlements.
In her remarks, Walson-Jack described the initiative as historic, noting it reflected renewed commitment by government to strengthening welfare systems and protecting workers in the federal civil service.
She also commended Tinubu for prioritising the welfare of Nigerian workers and supporting reforms aimed at improving working conditions and social protection across public institutions.
The event also featured signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between NSITF and OHCSF to strengthen implementation of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme and improve institutional collaboration nationwide.
