The Federal Government has authorized a ₦10 billion housing loan scheme to support home ownership among civil servants nationwide.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, announced the initiative in Abuja, stating that it will be implemented through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board.
According to her, the programme is aimed at enhancing workers’ welfare, improving productivity, and promoting financial stability by providing access to affordable housing.
Walson-Jack noted that home ownership fosters confidence and stability among workers, adding that the government views housing as a critical component of civil service reform, not merely a welfare measure.
She further explained that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is pursuing broader reforms to modernise the civil service, including digitisation, transparency, and improved efficiency across ministries and agencies.
