The Kwara State House of Assembly has passed the Harmonised Taxes and Levies (Approval for Collection) Bill, 2025, into law.
The passage of the bill followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation during a plenary session led by the Chairman of the committee and lawmaker representing Ilorin East at the State House of Assembly, Ariola Fatimoh Lawal.
Lawal affirmed that the report presented truly reflected the deliberations and resolutions reached during the committee stage.
Following the adoption of the report, the Speaker, Engineer Yakub Danladi Salihu, directed the Clerk to read the bill for the third time in accordance with Order Eleven, Rule Seventy-Three, Subsection One of the House Standing Rules.
The Harmonised Taxes and Levies (Approval for Collection) Bill, 2025, was thereafter read for the third time and duly passed into law by the lawmakers.
Engineer Yakub Danladi Salihu subsequently directed the Clerk of the House to prepare a clean copy of the bill for the direct assent of the Governor.
The lawmakers described the passage of the bill as a landmark legislation aimed at strengthening revenue administration and ensuring uniformity in tax collection across the state.
