President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Kenya over the death of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, describing him as a towering statesman whose influence extended far beyond his country.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed Odinga as a “towering figure in African politics” whose lifelong dedication to democracy, justice, and national unity left an enduring legacy in Kenya and across the continent.
The President commended Odinga’s courage and resilience in championing electoral reforms and his steadfast belief in the power of the people, noting that his ideals would continue to inspire generations.
“As a statesman of international repute and a freedom fighter, Mr. Odinga embodied the spirit of Pan-Africanism and remained a passionate advocate for inclusive governance and regional cooperation,” Tinubu said.
He added that Odinga’s legacy would endure through the institutions he helped strengthen and the democratic values he championed.
“We mourn with Kenya in this moment of national grief and stand in solidarity with you, President William Ruto, as you lead your nation through this painful chapter,” the statement read.
President Tinubu prayed that Odinga’s memory would continue to guide Kenya toward peace, unity, and progress.
