Troops have foiled a terrorist attack and rescued 31 abducted worshippers following an assault on a church in Kaduna State.
The incident occurred during an Easter service at an ECWA Church in Ariko Village, located in Kachia Local Government Area.
According to military authorities, the troops acted swiftly after receiving a distress call reporting the abduction of congregants by armed terrorists.
On arrival, soldiers, supported by members of the Ariko community, pursued the fleeing attackers and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
The troops reportedly overwhelmed the assailants with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon 31 hostages, including one individual who sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.
However, the operation also recorded casualties, as the remains of five victims killed by the terrorists were recovered at the scene.

Troops have since intensified pursuit operations to track down the fleeing terrorists and dismantle their hideouts. Additional reinforcements have also been deployed to the area to strengthen security and prevent further attacks.
