Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has stated that the peaceful demonstration by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja on Wednesday, was aimed at protesting the perceived partisanship of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the tyrannical tendencies of the Tinubu administration.
Speaking via his official 𝕏 account on Wednesday, Atiku described the protest as a patriotic effort to safeguard democracy in Nigeria and urged the international community to take note of the threats facing the country’s democratic institutions and opposition parties.
Atiku praised the ADC National Chairman, David Mark for participating in the protest on his birthday, calling it a display of commitment to democratic values.
“This morning, I joined other patriotic leaders of the ADC, led by our indefatigable National Chairman, Sen. David Mark, who sacrificed the comfort of his special day to participate in a peaceful protest against the partisanship of @inecnigeria and the tyranny of the Tinubu-led APC administration,” Atiku wrote.

He emphasized that the message of resistance was clear: efforts to undermine Nigeria’s democracy would not succeed. “Nigeria shall be reclaimed.
“Nigeria shall be rebuilt. Nigeria shall arise and shine through our collective and united efforts,” he added.
The protest saw ADC supporters take to the streets of Abuja, with notable political figures such as Atiku, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso expected to join, highlighting the rising tensions ahead of the 2027 elections.
