Radda inaugurates board of state-owned microfinance bank
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inaugurated the governing board of the state-owned Amana Microfinance Bank.
The bank was established to expand access to financial services, especially in under-banked areas across the state.
The bank has an operating capital of about N1 billion.
The governor said the board members were carefully selected to apply their experience to drive the new bank to success.
He said, “All the personalities appointed into this board are people of proven integrity with vast experience in banking. We have directors and independent directors whom we carefully selected because we believe they will support the effective management and growth of the bank.”
The board has Alhaji Muntaka Badaru Jikamshi as Chairman, the Managing Director, Umar Zubairu, as Secretary, Mohammed Lawal Mukhtar and Dr Bello Mohammed as independent directors, Dr Mohammed Bashir Ruwa Godiya, Hajiya Badiyya Hassan Mashi and the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, while the Special Adviser, Banking and Finance, Hajiya Bilkisu Sulaiman Ibrahim, will serve as observer.
“We have taken steps to reform the bank so it can meet internal financial demands, especially for government-owed institutions and newly created agencies. This will expand access to financial services for our people,” he said.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Alhaji Muntaka Badaru Jikamshi, commended the governor for his vision to promote entrepreneurship in the state.
He said, “The governor has demonstrated a clear vision for developing entrepreneurship in Katsina State. This is evident in the establishment of KASEDA and other agencies supporting small and medium enterprises.”
Jikamshi said the recapitalisation of Amana Microfinance Bank was a step in the right direction and pledged that the board would work diligently to ensure the growth and development of the bank.
“We will live up to expectations and ensure that the bank achieves its objectives for the benefit of the people of Katsina State.”
