Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have foiled a suspected armed robbery operation in Agbor, arresting one suspect and recovering arms and other incriminating items.
The incident occurred in the early hours of April 4, 2026, following a distress call from a resident of Full Current Compound in Alihame, Agbor, reporting that about eight armed men were attempting to force their way into the premises.
Acting promptly, the police mobilised to the scene, and on arrival, one of the suspects, identified as Emeka Ernest, from Ukpo in Anambra State, had already been overpowered by residents after a struggle.
He sustained injuries during the encounter and was subsequently taken into police custody before being rushed to the General Hospital, Agbor, for treatment.

A search at the scene led to the recovery of one live cartridge from the suspect, while two expended cartridges, a battle axe, a red cloth believed to have been used as a face mask, and a mobile phone were also recovered.
In a follow-up operation on April 6, based on the suspect’s confession, police operatives recovered a locally fabricated single-barrel gun concealed near the scene in Alihame.
The police said investigation is ongoing, with efforts intensified to track down other members of the gang who remain at large.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the swift response of the police, as well as the vigilance of residents, which he said contributed to the success of the operation.
He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to remain alert and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
