The Nigeria Police Force in Ado Ekiti has arrested two suspected illicit drug dealers following a targeted operation in the state capital.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, identified the suspects as Promise Fasola and Ileri-Oluwa Alao. He disclosed that operatives recovered various substances suspected to be illegal drugs, including Colorado, Indian hemp, and Loud, alongside a POS machine, an Android phone, and a power bank.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Abutu said the suspects have confessed to involvement in drug dealing activities and will be thoroughly investigated before being charged to court. He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects linked to the operation.
According to him, the arrest followed intelligence-led policing carried out by the Divisional Police Officer of the New Iyin Division and his team. The operatives raided a suspected drug distribution hub located at Alade Garage Area in Basiri, where the suspects were apprehended.
Abutu noted that the operation aligns with directives from the Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, mandating continuous raids on identified criminal hideouts across the state.
He further urged residents to support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
