A family from Nyandarua County has been thrown into mourning following the death of their daughter, who has been working in Turkey for a couple of years.

According to the bereaved family, Hannah Njambi moved to Turkey in search of greener pastures and was determined to provide for her children and the family she had left behind.

Speaking to Inooro TV, her mum said that Njambi started falling ill shortly after arrival in the foreign country, but she was determined to endure every hardship, despite her family’s insistence that she should return home.
“When she found that opportunity, she was elated. She just wanted to work and earn some money for her children. However, she got sick after arrival, and I asked her to return home, but she refused,” she said.

The family noted that Njambi was their breadwinner and their beacon of hope. The news of her death broke their hearts.
Family seeks help to repatriate Hannah Njambi’s body
Their sorrow is compounded by the humongous repatriation costs needed for them to receive her body and give her a befitting burial.
“We have been trying to raise the funds together with family and friends, but we need KSh 2.5m. We ask anyone who can help to help us so that we can lay our daughter to rest,” a family member said.
“When we bury her, we shall get closure and have peace. That is why we really need help,” she added.

In other news, another family also mourned the death of their daughter, who died shortly after arrival in Turkey.
Martha Laurence Kiwanga met her tragic fate just days after travelling abroad in search of a source of income to better her life and support her family.
Her mother, Esther Juma, emotionally recounted their final moments together as she struggled to come to terms with the heartbreaking loss.
“We continued communicating even after she arrived. We would video call, talk, and catch up on her work and how she was doing,” Esther narrated.
