The Arewa Youth Assembly has called on the Federal Government to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture through the deployment of modern weapons, drones, ammunition, and real-time intelligence systems to combat rising insecurity.
The appeal, directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was made during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, where the group stressed the need for enhanced military capacity to address insurgency and other forms of criminality across the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Assembly, spokesperson Mohammed Danlami urged the government to equip security agencies with advanced tools and logistics to improve operational efficiency and intelligence gathering. He emphasized that providing cutting-edge technology would enable security forces to effectively track and neutralise threats.
The group also cautioned against the politicisation of insecurity, warning that using national security challenges for political advantage could undermine unity and disrupt ongoing counter-insurgency efforts. Danlami noted that recurring spikes in insecurity during election periods warrant thorough investigation to uncover underlying causes.

According to the Assembly, unchecked insecurity poses serious risks to economic stability, governance, and food security, stressing that national survival must take precedence over political interests.
While raising concerns, the group commended security agencies for improved coordination and operational success, particularly under the leadership of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede, and Chief of Army Staff Waidi Shaibu.
The Assembly noted that recent operations have led to the rescue of kidnapped victims, dismantling of criminal enclaves, and improved morale among troops. It also called on the media to report responsibly and urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
The group maintained that addressing insecurity requires a unified approach involving government action, public cooperation, and a commitment to keeping security issues above partisan politics.
