The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has again foreclosed the chances of Governor Siminalayi Fubara retaining his position as governor after the 2027 general elections.
Addressing Rivers Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Abuja during a pre-convention reception organized for them, the minister maintained that he has not endorsed anyone for the governorship, vowing that “what happened to us before will not happen again.”
The minister noted that God is not “stupid” to have given them the opportunity to correct their mistakes, adding that it is only the one who fails to cash in on such opportunity that should be considered to be stupid.
He warned the people to be wary of what they read and hear on social media, stressing that at the appropriate time, they will look one another “eyeball to eyeball”and take the necessary decisions
The former governor vowed that no amount of intimidation or blackmail will make him repeat the mistakes he made before, even as he said that the governorship position this time will not be reserved for any ethnic group in the state.
“I have been hearing people say that I have endorsed them , it’s their business. What happened to us before will not happen again
“Nobody should be carried away with the speculations on social media, I’m not there . Whatever you read on social media please know that I’m not there.

“This time our eyes are open and our ears are on the ground.
So, if you like, for your selfishness go and collect electric pole contract or drainage contract, that’s your business. I’m not there.
“Whoever is meeting you and telling you that he is close to me, I want to tell you that everybody is close to me.
If the person can be, you too can be,” Wike said.
