Nick Kosgei: Friend emotionally reveals MP Ng'eno's photographer had planned to quit job

A close friend of the late MP Johanna Ng’eno’s, photographer Nick Kosgei, has mourned him and revealed that he had big plans for his future.

Russel disclosed that he and Nick met at Maseno University, and an unshakable bond grew between them as they helped each other navigate the intricacies of their careers as photographers.

In a moving Facebook post, Russel eulogised Nick as an ambitious young man who would stop at nothing to become a better professional and friend.

“We would sit down after events, laugh like boys, talk about life, future, and dreams. He would challenge me. Sometimes even disagree with me. And I loved that about him. He wasn’t fake. He was real,” Russell said.

Russell recalled that when Nick first moved to Nairobi after landing his job as a photographer, he held his hand and even showed him where to get nice suits for his parliamentary job.

They would often meet to share nuggets of wisdom.

“We met for tea, compared notes about work, about opportunities. He had this confidence…you could feel he was meant for something bigger. He even used to joke and tell people, via his Facebook posts, ‘Ukiona Russells Russells in any national event sema mimi ni rafiki ya Nick utapata lunch.” That was him,” he painfully said.

Nick’s friend reveals plan he had to quit his job

The post also revealed that late last year, Nick opened up about the struggles he was going through, telling Russell that he was also mulling over quitting his job so that he could chase bigger dreams.

“As a young man trying to figure life out, I understood him. In January, we talked deeply. He wanted to quit his job and chase something bigger. I told him, ‘Hold on, kidogo. Let’s plan vizuri’. We were planning. We were hopeful,” he stated.

Russell regretted that Nick’s life had been taken away even before he got the chance to chase after his dreams.s

“No goodbye. No last tea. No last debate. No last laugh. Nick, you are too young, bro. Please come back. I’m struggling to accept you’re gone. We had plans. We had unfinished conversations. We were just getting started. Rest easy, my brother,” Russell said.

In other news, another friend of Nick also leaked their last chats, which proved that he indeed harboured big dreams for his future.

In an emotional message, Mosonik revealed the depth of their bond, calling Kosgei both a friend and a workmate who had become like a brother.

“Am sad, down, weak & broken. My good friend & workmate who became a brother, with whom we worked seamlessly. Go dance with the angels,” he wrote.
