The legislator passed away on the evening of Saturday, February 28, after the helicopter he was travelling in, along with five others, crashed and burst into flames in the Chepkiep Forest.
Who died with MP Ngeno?
Eyewitnesses revealed that the aircraft had been forced to land outside the forest shortly before the incident, only to take off again and fly briefly before the fatal crash.

Following the tragedy, other victims who perished alongside Ngeno have been identified. Among them was his personal photographer, journalist Nick Kosgei.
Kosgei had been accompanying the MP on his visit to assess the aftermath of heavy rains that had wreaked havoc in the area.
Hours before the crash, Kosgei documented their helicopter ride, capturing Ngeno seated alongside the pilot as he inspected flooding in the Mara Rianta area near the Mara River.
What did the leaked chats reveal?
Following the confirmation of his death, Kosgei’s close ally, social media personality and media expert Engineer Kipchirchir Mosonik, took to Facebook to express his grief.
Mosonik revealed the depth of their bond, calling Kosgei both a friend and a workmate who had become like a brother.
“Am sad, down, weak & broken. My good friend & workmate who became a brother, with whom we worked seamlessly. Go dance with the angels,” he wrote.

Mosonik also shared private WhatsApp chats between him and Kosgei, showing their exchanges on the fateful day.
The messages revealed that Kosgei had reached out to Mosonik around 11 am, informing him they would be travelling to Mt. Elgon and asking about his whereabouts.
Mosonik replied, confirming he was in Eldoret and asking about the travel plans. In what would become Kosgei’s last message, he wrote at around 11:30 am:
“Tunangojea chopper, tukitoka nitakushow” (We’re waiting for the chopper; I’ll let you know when we take off)
Mosonik acknowledged the message, unaware it would be the last he would receive from his friend.
Around 5:48 pm, Mosonik reached out again, but there was no response, as Kosgei had already died in the crash at approximately 4:45 pm.

What did Mosonik say about the pilot?
In a related story, Mosonik recounted the final moments of the late lawmaker before the helicopter crash.
He explained that the chopper had picked him up in Eldoret on Saturday morning as he accompanied MP Johanna Ngeno to Endebess.
After their visit, Mosonik said the pilot allegedly seemed to be in a hurry and took the MP along with a few others, including Kosgei.
However, Mosonik did not board the helicopter again, as he was returning to Eldoret.
