A close friend of Carlos Keter, a teacher who tragically perished in a helicopter crash alongside Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng’eno, has mourned him and shared their last WhatsApp conversation just hours before the crash.

Carlos, who had only recently secured a position with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) thanks to the support of MP Ng’eno after years of waiting, was among the six who died in the accident.
The fatal crash occurred on Saturday, February 28, in the Mosop area of Nandi county, plunging many into mourning.

Mwalimu Carlos’s close friend, Senator Cheruiyot, recalled that they had shared many political plans and were looking forward to upcoming meetings.
He first shared a past conversation in which they discussed the dynamics of politics and the consequences of taking sides.
Cheruiyot also asked Carlos if he had received a letter, presumably his TSC confirmation, to which Carlos replied that he had not.
“Of course, people will oppose you both, inside and outside your team, because of interest. And did you get the letter? Many questions will arise,” Cheruiyot wrote in the texts.
In another conversation, shared just hours before the tragic helicopter crash, the two friends spoke again. Carlos updated Cheruiyot on his whereabouts, saying he was headed to Bomet from Narok, where Cheruiyot planned to meet him.
“Rest easy, Carlos. Every time he called, or I called him, he would greet warmly: ‘Werieb of the Kimanambai family,’” Cheruiyot captioned in his Facebook post.

Kenyans, including former students and friends, expressed grief and shared heartfelt messages on social media, celebrating Carlos’s life and legacy.
