A young Kenyan man who recorded the viral last moments of the ill-fated chopper that crashed on Saturday, February 28, has shared how MP Johanna Ng’eno saved the life of his bodyguard without knowing.

Braxton Manazi narrated that on the morning of Saturday, February 28, the MP’s personal assistant and his own close friend went to pick him up at his home to take him to the lawmaker’s house.

In a lengthy emotional post, Braxton said the MP was awaiting him at his home just before he left in the chopper for his trip to Mt Elgon, where he was set to attend a musician’s event.
“I quickly dressed up and joined him in the car parked outside. It felt like an ordinary day, one of those days we had shared many times before, moving around with our boss, supporting his work, believing in his vision,” he narrated.

When they arrived at Ng’eno’s home, the helicopter was nearly ready to take off.
“When we reached Hon Ngong’s home, the helicopter was already there, its blades slicing through the air. Inside were Sportpesa Ronoh, Afande Pngetio Soget, Nick Kosgei, his personal cameraman, Hillary Kirui, his loyal bodyguard, and the pilot,” Braxton narrated.
The MP’s assistant rushed to hand him some money that he was set to spend during the musician’s event.

Just then, a man identified as Carlos Keter, whom the MP had assisted in getting a job, came running to the compound, ready to hop on the helicopter.

However, all the seats in the chopper were already occupied. This is when the MP instructed one to disembark from the chopper, for Carlos to get a seat.
“Hon Ngong instructed someone seated in the rear seat to alight. Without hesitation, Hillary Kirui, the bodyguard, stepped out willingly so Carlos could board. That was the moment Hillary unknowingly escaped death,” he narrated.
Braxton said after the bodyguard gave up his seat, the helicopter took off, as he recorded it. A friend of his also confided in him that he did not want to board the chopper due to the foggy weather.
They later went about their day, waiting for the MP to return, as he was scheduled to distribute some bursaries.
Braxton mourns MP Ng’eno
Sadly, at 4.35pm, Braxton and other close aides of the MP received a call about the fatal crash.
“I cannot even describe what happened inside my chest at that moment. It felt as though my heart had been ripped open. The man who had lifted us, believed in us, and restored our dreams was gone,” he painfully said.

The young man revealed that the MP rescued him from despair a few years ago when he sponsored his university education.
“Our biological father had died long ago. In Hon Ngong, we found a father figure. A mentor. A protector. A man who did not just speak about helping youth, he did it,” he stated.
