John Wakabiu was over the moon after finally regaining his freedom following several years in prison for a crime he insists he did not commit.
Wakabiu was warmly received by his family members, who had missed him for two decades while he was incarcerated.
They embraced him tightly, expressing love, support, and gratitude to God for bringing him back home safely.
“Prison is not a good place. If anyone is thinking about sending someone to jail, discard those thoughts immediately. It is not a good place. Being in prison is like being in another country. There is no freedom. You cannot keep anything in your pockets. Once you are given that uniform, if you are found with other clothes, you are beaten severely,” Wakabiu said, smiling with relief that his prison days were behind him.

Wakabiu shares how he landed in prison
Wakabiu urged citizens not to rush to take others to prison, regardless of disagreements, citing his bitter experience.
He encouraged people to resolve disputes amicably at home rather than escalating them to court, warning that it could lead to lifelong regret.
“There are many young people in jail. Most of them are there for serious crimes, but some are imprisoned for offences they did not commit. I was framed and served time for something I did not do. Some people frame you to extort money from you.
I was in a hotel when a young girl came in one morning. She used to pick chapatis, and her mother would pay in the evening. I was minding my business, packing the chapatis, when Mama Wambui came to buy milk,” Wakabiu narrated.
Wakabiu accused of having affair wih girl
A few days later, Wakabiu said rumours began circulating that he was having an affair with the young girl, allegations he strongly denied.

He claimed he called all the parties involved to discuss the matter, except Mama Wambui, who reportedly did not attend the meeting.
Despite the painful past, his family expressed immense joy at having him back home after many years. They shared plans to spend quality time together and make up for lost years.

Murang’a man released from prison

Kinyua was warmly received by his wife after stepping out of Maranjau GK Prison, as she eagerly embraced him.
Other family members were also present to welcome him with songs, dances, and celebrations as they cherished the emotional reunion.
They later hosted a welcome party, preparing delicious meals and cutting a cake to mark the joyous occasion.
