Residents of Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna state have been thrown into mourning following the killing of 13 people at a wedding celebration on Sunday night.
The victims were killed by suspected bandits who also abducted many residents, burnt properties and looted food and medicines.
According to residents, the gunmen in large numbers attacked the venue of the celebration at about 11:47 pm., shooting indiscriminately.
The community leader said those killed have been buried, but there has been no communication with the bandits about those kidnapped.
When contacted, Spokesperson of the Kaduna state police command, DSP Hassan Mansur, confirmed the incident, pledging to provide comprehensive report later.
Reports from the area indicated that the state Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, and Senator Sani Musa have visited the injured victims at the hospital in Kagarko.
