  • Yhemolee has sparked online debate after lashing out at food critic Opeyemi Famakin over a review of his wife’s perfume brand.
  • He claimed the review was unnecessary, revealed strong sales figures, and alleged that Opeyemi demanded ₦6 million for a launch review.

Social media was thrown into drama after nightlife influencer Yhemolee reacted strongly to a review made by popular food critic Opeyemi Famakin about his wife’s perfume brand.

In a series of emotional posts, Yhemolee accused Opeyemi of being fake, claiming the critic pretended to like him personally while making what he described as demeaning and unnecessary comments about the perfume.

Yhemolee questioned how someone could publicly say they like him and still go ahead to criticise a product connected to his household. He insisted that the brand does not need Opeyemi’s validation, stating that the perfume has already sold out twice, with over 1,000 bottles sold.

According to him, the particular fragrance that was criticised is currently the brand’s best-selling scent.

He also alleged that the brand’s marketing team had previously contacted Opeyemi to review the perfume during its launch, but the critic reportedly demanded a fee of ₦6 million. Yhemolee suggested that the negative review only surfaced after the brand began to succeed without his involvement.

The influencer further argued that if the review was meant to be constructive, it should have been communicated privately rather than posted online, especially since his name was mentioned. He concluded by saying the incident has helped him identify and “filter” the kind of people he associates with on social media.
