A woman has opened up about how she dug deep into her pockets and took loans to finance her own dowry, wedding and honeymoon after her then-husband failed to step up financially.

Aleti Crystal narrated that in the months leading up to her wedding, her fiancé and his family were facing some problems, and she decided to cover all the expenses for the nuptials.

Speaking on the Romantic Mukiga channel, Aleti noted that, looking back, she was a fool to proceed with the wedding plans despite the financial issues troubling her husband, his inability to take on the financial burden.
She recalls feeling excited and unaware that she was digging her own grave by taking up loans to finance the wedding.
“I took loans, paid for the gowns. I made deposits and even saved up for the honeymoon. I was so excited to show everyone that I was married. During the wedding, the decor guy almost took away the high table due to nonpayment. I had to plead with him not to. I promised to pay him after the wedding.
“I then asked my new husband what plans he had for the wedding night, and he told me that he did not have any plans. He said he thought the wedding organisers had some sort of plan. I was so surprised because the organisers were him and me. I approached our pastor and told him about it, and he offered to pay for three nights for us,” she recalled.

At the end of their hotel stay, the woman turned again to her husband to ask if he had plans for their honeymoon, but he said he had none.
“I badly wanted to go on honeymoon, and I really wanted to be with him. He was a very nonchalant guy. During the honeymoon in Mombasa, I ran out of money, so I kept calling people, asking them to lend me some money. I was such a fool. I really was,” she added.
The woman encouraged women not to ignore such glaring red flags in their relationships and to avoid taking drastic measures just to be considered married.

The woman said her fiancé had lost a huge amount of money in a business deal, leaving her with the huge burden to pay for everything.
