Nine-year-old Augustine Goodnews has shared a heartbreaking account of how his blind mother struggles daily to provide for her five sons, revealing that faith remains their strongest source of hope in the face of hunger.
Speaking during an interview on the Lucky Udu Experience Podcast, Augustine recounted the family’s ordeal and the difficult reality of growing up in a household where food is never guaranteed. The young boy, who appeared composed despite his circumstances, described how his mother turns to prayer whenever there is nothing to eat.
“Whenever we don’t have food, my mummy will say ‘let’s pray till anybody God touch will bring food for us’,” Augustine said.
According to him, the family often depends on the goodwill of kind-hearted Nigerians who occasionally send food or money after hearing about their situation. He explained that his mother, despite being visually impaired, continues to encourage her children to remain hopeful and prayerful.
Augustine noted that there are days when they go to bed hungry, holding onto the belief that help will come. “Whenever we don’t have food, my mummy will say ‘let’s pray till anybody God touch will ring food for us’,” he repeated, underscoring how routine the situation has become.
The emotional interview has since sparked reactions from viewers, many of whom expressed sympathy and pledged support for the family. Social media users described the young boy’s composure and unwavering faith as both inspiring and heartbreaking.
