The disturbing footage, which quickly went viral on social media, showed the policeman attempting to enforce traffic regulations when the suspect turned violent, repeatedly striking him until he lost balance and fell to the ground.

Police later identified the suspect as Dr Emmanuel Njovu, a 32-year-old medical doctor. During the altercation, he allegedly told the officer he was a clinical officer.
The claim, however, prompted the Association of Clinical Officers to publicly distance itself from him once his true identity emerged.
“The suspect was formally charged and arrested with the following offences: assault on a Police Officer, contrary to Section 250(b) of the Penal Code; disobeying a traffic sign; and dangerous driving,” Police Service public relations officer Godfrey Chilabi said in an official statement.
Was the suspect arrested?
He added that the matter has been processed for court through the National Prosecution Authority, and the suspect remains in police custody awaiting his court appearance.
The assault triggered widespread condemnation from members of the public, with many expressing outrage at the brazen attack on a law enforcement officer performing his duties.
Others called for stronger protection for police officers, who often face hostility while maintaining order on the roads.
