The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Continent 3, has unveiled plans to empower 8,400 Nigerians with free digital skills in celebration of the 84th birthday of its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

The initiative, described as one of the flagship activities marking the cleric’s birthday, is aimed at equipping youths, young adults, church members and the general public with practical and income-generating digital competencies in response to rising unemployment and the expanding global digital economy.

The programme, coordinated by Love Transformation Academy, the empowerment arm of RCCG Love Assembly, Lagos Province 1, in partnership with Faith Cometh Multimedia Consultants, will provide structured training across RCCG parishes within Continent 3.

Speaking on the initiative on Sunday during a press conference in Lagos, the Continent 3 Overseer, Pastor Johnson Odesola, said the empowerment scheme reflects the church’s commitment to spiritual and socio-economic transformation.

“This digital empowerment programme is our practical contribution to national development. It is designed not only to celebrate our father in the Lord at 84 but also to invest in people in a way that creates lasting value,” Odesola said.

According to him, the church recognises the urgent need to prepare young Nigerians for opportunities in the digital space. “We are empowering 8,400 participants with relevant digital and entrepreneurial skills that can open doors to employment, freelancing and business ownership. This is in line with our Vision 2032 agenda for growth and transformation.”

The courses to be offered include video editing, graphic design, digital marketing, social media management, animation, content creation and monetisation of digital skills. All training, Odesola disclosed, will be delivered free of charge, with registration on a first-come, first-served basis.

He explained that RCCG parishes across regions, provinces and zones in Continent 3 would serve as study centres, ensuring accessibility and grassroots participation. Training sessions will be broadcast via Zoom, allowing participants to join from their local parishes while benefiting from centralised instruction.

“This decentralised model ensures digital inclusion,” he noted. “Beyond the technical skills, participants will receive mentorship, follow-up support and opportunities for integration into community-based projects. The programme is open to everyone, including non-church members.”

He said the expected outcomes include the creation of new employment and freelance opportunities, the development of digital entrepreneurs and content creators, and the expansion of faith-based social impact through skills development.

The Coordinator of the initiative, Pastor Richard Ayibiowu, described the programme as “a faith-driven response to the economic realities facing many young people.”

“We believe the Church must not only preach hope but also create platforms that make hope practical,” he said. “By equipping individuals with monetisable digital skills, we are helping them build sustainable income pathways and contribute meaningfully to society.”

He added that pastors and church leaders across all regions and provinces have been mobilised to publicise the programme widely and facilitate seamless registration through designated study centres.

The empowerment scheme forms part of activities commemorating Adeboye’s 84th birthday, underscoring his longstanding emphasis on youth development, education and national transformation.

“With this initiative, we honour our General Overseer’s legacy of raising empowered, purpose-driven individuals,” Odesola said. “Our goal is to see thousands transformed, not just spiritually, but economically.”

Registration details and further enquiries are available through RCCG administrative offices across Continent 3.
