President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, following his posthumous receipt of the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award, while also congratulating the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo, on his 60th birthday.
In a statement signed by the president on Sunday, Tinubu described Fela Kuti as a global cultural icon whose music transcended entertainment to become a powerful instrument for social change.
He said Fela’s recognition by the Grammy Awards, which makes him the first African to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, affirms his enduring global influence and the foundational role he played in shaping Afrobeat and modern music.
President Tinubu noted that Fela’s fearless advocacy, creativity, and revolutionary spirit continue to inspire generations of Nigerian musicians and resonate across Afrobeats and other global genres.
In a separate message also on Sunday, the president extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo as he marks his 60th birthday on February 2.
He described Oladejo as a dependable party stalwart whose articulate communication and clarity of purpose have contributed significantly to the strength and unity of the APC in Lagos State.
The president commended Oladejo’s steadfast commitment to progressive politics, democratic ideals, and grassroots mobilisation, noting that his years of service reflect discipline, loyalty, and responsible political communication.
President Tinubu wished Oladejo good health, renewed strength, and many more years of impactful service to the APC, Lagos State, and the nation, reaffirming his appreciation for contributions that advance Nigeria’s political and cultural legacy.
