First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to unity, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect across religious and cultural lines as Nigeria joins the global community to observe World Hijab Day and World Interfaith Harmony Week 2026.
In her message marking World Hijab Day 2026, themed “Unity in Hijab”, the first lady celebrated the freedom of choice, faith and identity of Muslim women, describing the hijab as a symbol of dignity, strength, obedience and worship. She noted that Nigeria’s diversity should be embraced as a source of unity rather than division.
Similarly, commemorating World Interfaith Harmony Week 2026, observed from February 1 to 7 under the theme “Celebrating Peace, Honouring Leaders – From Prayer to Action”, Senator Tinubu urged Nigerians to uphold shared values such as love, peace, compassion, respect and service to humanity.
She emphasised the importance of translating faith into action through dialogue, understanding and collective efforts to build a more peaceful and inclusive society.
The first lady concluded by calling on all Nigerians to remain united, noting that solidarity across beliefs and cultures is essential to national strength and harmony.
