The man, identified as Kinyua, had been imprisoned for 18 years at Maranjau GK Prison. When his day of freedom finally came, his family was ready to receive him.
Kinyua walked out with his luggage, escorted by several guards to the prison gate, where he was reunited with his loved ones.

His family broke into ululation as they celebrated the long-awaited freedom of their kin, who had served his sentence for over a decade and a half.

“A man was overjoyed after being released from prison after 18 years, only to find his family waiting for him. He was released from Maranjau GK Prison in Murang’a county,” read the caption.
Kinyua lifted up by family members
The first person to greet Kinyua was his patient and devoted wife, who could not wait to embrace her husband.
She gently took the luggage from his hands and set it aside before hugging him tightly, their cheeks touching.
She then gave him a light kiss as other family members approached, singing a celebratory traditional song and thanking God for his release.
They lifted him high in the air, showcasing their strength while singing at the top of their lungs, unable to contain their overwhelming joy.

A broad smile spread across the former convict’s face as he breathed in the fresh air of freedom, surrounded by his loving family.
A woman who was present during Kinyua’s reintegration shared a heartfelt post, accompanied by more heartwarming photos of the occasion.
“I’m grateful to God for the opportunity to be there to support his reintegration into his family and the community at large. Tears of joy were uncontrollable. Indeed, as the Bible says in Job 14, there is hope for a tree even if it is cut down. Yesterday marked a new beginning for Mr. Kinyua to be free again.

Kinyua celebrates with family at home
