He took her to a prayer camp, where they have been living for the past six years, hoping for her recovery and believing they will one day return home together.
Emmanuel’s wife abandoned by her relatives
The camp also houses other people living with mental illness who believe they will receive healing through prayer and spiritual intervention.
“It is my duty to take care of her. I am hoping that her condition will improve. I love her very much, and I cannot abandon her,” Emmanuel said.
The pastor who runs the prayer camp explained how the couple ended up there.
“Emmanuel’s wife had travelled to her parents’ home after giving birth. Unfortunately, he later received a call informing him that the baby had passed away. When his wife returned home, she had difficulty with her speech and concentration. They sought medical help, but it was not sufficient. They later came to the camp with her family members, who eventually left. However, Emmanuel has remained here consistently for the past six years. Many men would have left. Many men have abandoned their wives, but he has resisted the temptation to leave,” the pastor said, praising Emmanuel.
