The Lagos Waste Management Authority has commenced bulk waste evacuation along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway corridor, beginning with a clean-up operation at Alaba Rago.

The development was disclosed in a sanitation update shared on the Lagos State Government’s official social media accounts on Sunday, which outlined ongoing efforts to address illegal dump sites and improve environmental conditions along the busy route.

The agency emphasised that the exercise forms part of a sustained sanitation framework designed not only to clear waste but also to discourage indiscriminate dumping through monitoring and enforcement.

The intervention comes amid months of complaints on social media about the untidy state of sections of the Lagos–Badagry corridor, with residents and commuters frequently highlighting refuse heaps and environmental concerns in the area.

LAWMA reiterated that maintaining a clean environment remains a shared responsibility between government agencies, residents, and businesses operating within the state.
