The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has urged residents, traders and transport operators along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway corridor to dispose of waste through assigned Private Sector Participant operators.
The directive followed the commencement of cleaning and evacuation operations across the axis.
The Lagos State Government disclosed the development in a statement shared on its official social media platforms on Monday.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, spoke during a monitoring exercise across identified waste blackspots on Saturday.
He said the intervention forms part of a broader compliance and environmental sustainability drive.
“LAWMA has commenced bulk waste evacuation at Alaba Rago along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, deploying heavy-duty carriers, loaders and support teams to clear illegal dump sites,” he said.
He added, “Residents, traders, and transport operators are advised to dispose of waste only through assigned PSP operators and comply strictly with environmental regulations.”
The monitoring and cleanup covered Orile, Doyin, Alaba Rago, Agric, Barracks Iyana-Iba and Agbara.
Gbadegesin said the exercise would extend to other waste blackspots along the corridor.
