The Peoples Democratic Party chapter in Kwara State on Saturday announced the suspension of the Moro Local Government Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Musa, over allegations of gross misconduct.
The decision, according to a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Olusegun Adewara, followed resolutions reached by the State Working Committee at its meeting held on February 20 at the party secretariat in Ilorin.
It further explained that the suspension would last for one month, pending further investigation by the appropriate organ of the party.
“Consequently, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Musa is hereby suspended for a period of one month and has been referred to the State Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.
“This step is to ensure that due process is followed and to provide the affected chairman the opportunity to defend himself in line with the fair hearing provisions enshrined in the party’s constitution,” the statement said.
The party also named members of the disciplinary panel that would handle the matter under the leadership of the State Deputy Chairperson, Wosilat Macarthy.
It stressed that during the suspension period, the embattled chairman must refrain from performing any official duties or presenting himself as the Moro LG party chairman.
