The Kenyan-born father has announced that he is now serving in the United States Army, a milestone he once believed was beyond his reach.
How Oscar Koros moved to the US
He told NgGossips that when he relocated to the US in 2017, he started his journey as a professional runner, but later changed his visa status to student.

Following the successful change, he shifted gears and enrolled into military training, an exercise that he says was fair and physical.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Oscar shared a photograph of himself in uniform, standing tall yet visibly emotional as he reflected on the road that brought him there.
“I’m standing here today, beaming with pride, honour and gratitude,” he wrote. “I never thought I’d wear this uniform.”
For Oscar, the achievement is deeply personal. He describes himself as following in his father’s footsteps, determined not only to uphold his father’s legacy but to take it “to the next level”.
Wearing the uniform, he says, is both a fulfilment of a dream and a continuation of a story that began long before him. Yet woven into the celebration is grief as his parents are no longer alive to witness the moment.
“With this pride comes sadness,” he admitted. “My parents aren’t here to see this day, and that hurts. Papa and Mama, I did it again!”
Friends and relatives flooded his page with congratulatory messages, praising his resilience and dedication.

Oscar says his motivation extends beyond honouring his late parents. As a father himself, he hopes his achievement will serve as a living lesson to his son.
“I’m doing this for my son, too, I wanted to show him what’s possible,” he explained, underscoring his belief in leading by example.
He also paid tribute to those who stood by him along the way: his siblings, whom he thanked for their steadfast support, and his wife, friends and extended family, whom he described as his “rock” and “cheerleaders”.
For Oscar, joining the US Army is more than a career milestone. It is a promise kept, to his father’s legacy, to his son’s future, and to himself.
