Muyiwa Adekeye, the Media Adviser of a former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has yet to grant bail to his boss eight days after his detention.
The Eagle Online recalls that El-Rufai had reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on February 16, 2026.
On February 18, 2026, the EFCC transferred him to the ICPC.
In a statement on Monday, Adekeye said his lawyers submitted an application for bail to the ICPC on February 19, 2026.
He however said there has been not response to the application.
He also said the lawyers are also yet to be shown any remand order authorising El-Rufai’s continued detention despite the expiration of the constitutionally allowed 48-hour period for holding a person without charge.
He said no fewer than two court matters involving El-Rufai are scheduled for this week.
A fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Federal Government, ICPC, EFCC, and Department of State Services (DSS) is fixed for hearing on February 25 at the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
The suit seeks an order admitting him to bail.
El-Rufai is also scheduled to be arraigned on the same date over charges reportedly filed by the DSS.
