Veteran journalist and ADC Chieftain, Dele Momodu, has reacted to comments made by Chief Olabode Ibiyinka George, regarding former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, through a post shared on his official Instagram page on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
The reaction followed the circulation of a video clip in which Bode George, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said, “The way Atiku brags, all I have for him is pity. This Nigeria is for every parts of Nigeria….”
In his Instagram post, Dele Momodu addressed Bode George directly, urging restraint and moderation in political discourse. In the caption accompanying the video, Momodu wrote, “Baba mi Sir, you know I love and respect you a lot, kindly purge yourself of anti-ATIKU sentiments. It is his right to contest, Sir, while it is your right not to support him.”
Momodu stated that Atiku Abubakar had not publicly boasted about his political ambitions. He wrote, “ATIKU has never bragged to anyone about his political dreams. Never.”
In the same post, Momodu referenced internal developments within the PDP, noting Atiku Abubakar’s awareness of challenges facing the party. According to him, “ATIKU knew PDP was going to collapse under the suffocating grip of NYESOM WIKE, who you once supported, before joining the JONATHAN re-election movement.”
Momodu further recalled past political disagreements involving Bode George and former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike. He wrote, “I wept the day WIKE started slapping you, black and blue, with insults, on television.” The media entrepreneur added that Atiku Abubakar’s political positioning had evolved over time. He stated, “Today, ATIKU is more clairvoyant Sir.”
Addressing the broader democratic process, Momodu emphasized the principle of individual choice in elections. In his words, “Democracy is about the freedom to choose and the liberty to reject at the polls.” He concluded the post with an appeal for tolerance, writing, “PLS, LET ATIKU BREATHE, SIR….”
