Salome John Antpass was on her way home in the evening when she was run over by a prison department vehicle, killing her on the spot.
Salome’s husband receives heartbreaking news
She was riding on a motorbike when the horrific road accident occurred, leaving her family and friends in unimaginable pain.
Her husband, Kigomba, vividly recalled his last conversation with his wife on the fateful day she died following the crash.

“I was heading to Arusha. I called my wife and asked her not to leave because I was coming to pick her up so we could go home together. She asked me if I would delay, but I urged her to wait for me. She wanted to go home earlier so she could have enough time to prepare and go to work. We agreed, and I allowed her to go ahead with her plans. I tried calling her around 5pm, going on to 6pm, but there was no response. I called several times, but there was no answer,” he said.
Later, the phone was answered by a stranger who identified himself as a prison officer and asked Kigomba to identify himself.
Salome’s husband visits Mount Meru
Kigomba introduced himself and spoke with the officer, who broke the heartbreaking news that Salome had passed away.
“He asked me to make my way to Mount Meru Regional Referral Hospital to confirm my wife’s identity. I was driving at the time and began driving recklessly after hearing the news, but God helped me. I called the landlord and asked him if he had heard the news about my wife’s death. I told him I had called her phone, but someone else answered. The landlord called her phone and received the same response.
I arrived at the hospital and headed straight to the emergency department. I found the prison officers there. We spoke briefly before the landlord arrived. He told me to go to the mortuary to identify the body and confirm whether it was Salome. We went and saw how badly the body had been damaged in the accident,” he said.
